About Us

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2003 - 2004. Since its inception, the Department is striving to impart quality education to students. The Department has an intake of 60 students. Modern biotechnology provides tremendous scope for developing new products and technologies which find promising applications in wide variety of fields. Biotechnology has made significant advances in recent years and emerged as a frontline area of research and development, with an overwhelming impact on the society. The department has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty who are from diverse streams and specializations. The Department has well equipped laboratories to provide practical knowledge to students. The faculty and the students of the department are publishing research papers in various national and international journals on a regular basis. The department having multidisciplinary curriculum. The Graduates are equipped with the requirements of Industry and Research Institutions in India and Abroad.

  • Department faculty members with doctoral, post-doctoral experience and expertise in Different research domains
  • In built opportunity in development of skills as well as scientific writing. Skill Development courses conducted by department in various Fields such as Plant Tissue culture, Mushroom Cultivation, Reactor Design and Product development.
  • Received Grant to the department by the Faculties from Government of India (AICTE, DBT, DST, UGC) and Professional bodies (IE(I) & ISTE)
  • Focus to train and equip the students in the development of biotechnological processes for product development, as a result the grants were received by the students to carry out their research (DST, DBT & TNSCST)
  • Fundamental research to develop technologies to benefit society
  • Conference proceedings published with ISBN Number
  • Research laboratories were established with high end instruments like PCR, Fermenter, ELISA, CO2 incubator, Sonicator, Gel documenter, Homogenizer, Microfiltration unit, etc.
  • Guest faculty drawn from a pool of experts from industry/academia there by ensuring a balanced and continuous interaction with industry
  • Placement assistants through college placement cell. Placement and Higher studies maintaining 100% for past ten years
  • Innovative teaching methods involving continuous interaction amongst faculty and Students
  • Graduates are able to work effectively in multidisciplinary environment
