At present, the intake is 240 students since 2012.The department offers undergraduate degree programme of B.E Electronics and Communication Engineering and postgraduate degree programme of M.E Communication Systems and M.E VLSI Design. The department has state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to infuse practical knowledge to the students on par with academic excellence. The department has excellent and consistent placement record and most of the eligible students are placed in reputed organizations. The department actively involved in teaching and research in disparate subfields of Electronics, Telecommunication, Signal Processing and Embedded Systems. The department faculties have good number of publications, sponsored R&D projects and Patents to their credits. The ECE Department has been recognized as a collaborative research centre by Anna University, Chennai.

Faculty

For the faculty in the department of ECE, teaching is more of a passion than profession. We not only create well-educated students, but make them also acquire awareness about the changing world scenario in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department is headed by Dr. S .Sumathi, who has spent all the years of her career in the field of industry and education.

Under research promotion scheme(research project) for the project entitled “studies and investigation on improvement of effective communication in air craft mobile adhoc network (AMANET) using Neighbour based collaboration technique for military Aircraft”.

Best Practices

The Department of ECE is encouraged to the maximum to exhibit their talents in co-curricular activities and activities like Debate, Group Discussion, Mock interviews, Technical Quiz, and Test etc., at regular intervals. By this, students gain confidence to face interviews in the future. Eminent people in their field of specialization are invited to deliver their guest lectures regularly. Value added courses are performed through workshop and hands On-Training by industrial experts. ECE Department conducts National Level Technical Symposium called “CYNOSURE” and National Conference on Frontiers in communication and signal processing systems and publishes proceedings with ISBN number which includes research works and Innovative Project Expo every year. Various students from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, AP, Kerala etc. comes forward to attend this symposium. At our Institute, through Authorized university research centre both at the PG and Ph.D level faculty members after completion of project work, insist students to publish their research work in reputed scientific Journals.

Salient Features

  • All laboratories are modernized and well equipped with the total built up area of about 1500 sq. mt. A variety of trainer kits are provided in all the laboratories to conduct experiments. Well-qualified and experienced instructors are also appointed to train the students in the laboratory.
