Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Department

The department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering was started in the year 1992-93 with the intake of 45 and later it was increased to 60. As indicated by the continuous opinion from the alumnae and up to date necessities from the core industries, the department has been renamed as Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and started as a new course in the academic year 2007-08 onwards with a sanctioned intake of 60. Presently it is increased to 120.
The main aim of this department is, to fulfill the requirement in frontier technology of Electronics and Instrumentation in the area of manufacturing, power plant, petrochemical, gas industries and industrial automation, etc…
The department has been continuously imparting standard and quality service to the students for the past 21 years. 14 batches of undergraduates in ICE discipline and 7 batches in EIE discipline have graduated from this department. The department has been inculcating moral values in addition to the curricular and co-curricular activities.

Faculty

The department has well experienced and competent faculty members with diverse specialization in their master degrees. They have presented many papers in national and international journals and conferences. They have attended seminars, workshops, faculty development programs and short-term training programs for their growth, in sequence to the enhancement of the quality of education.   

Facilities

The department has well equipped laboratories with state-of-art facilities like

  • SCADA in MODBUS network
  • HART protocol based smart transmitters
  •  Programmable Logic Control based real time system
  •  PC based DAQ system
  •  Labview based control loops with data acquisition
  •  Mutli-process station
  •  Interacting and non-interacting systems
  •  Measurement and control of industrial parameters like temperature, pressure, flow and level with digital PID
  • UV Spectrophotometer
  •  Calibration of industrial parameters
  • Torque and speed measurement (photo-electric tachometer, potentiometer)
  • Different Transducer (RTD, Thermocouple, LVDT, Strain gauge, Load cell and Dead Weight Tester)
  • Viscosity measurement (Red-wood, Say-bolt Viscometer)
  •  Schering bridge, Kelvin bridge, Wheat stone bridge, Anderson bridges for measurement of resistance, capacitance and inductance
  •  Integrated Circuit Trainer kits for design of differential amplifier, timer, oscillator, arithmetic operator, etc,

Lab Facilities

The department students exposed into practical knowledge by doing experiments in the following laboratories for their four year duration, visiting different industries and also undergoing in-plant training, doing industrial projects.

Library Facilities

The College Central Library is fully automated with EIE related 3240 books of 1141 titles. Apart from text books, the library has 62 national journals, 52 international journals, and 200 e-journals relevant to EIE students with popular dailies. DELNET (DEveloping Library NETwork) facility provides free e-books, e-journals, data bases and also Inter Library Loan service to the library members. On-line book reservation facility through intranet is also available in the library. University question papers are available for the student reference
