About the Department

The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the academic year 1993 -1994 with an intake of 30. From academic year 2003-04 the intake has been increased to 60 in view of the future trends in various disciplines of civil engineering. Initially, the institute was affiliated to University of Madras and then to Periyar University . Since 2001-02. It is affiliated to Anna University , Chennai. The department is accredited by NBA and certified by ISO 9001: 2000.

Vision of the department is to produce Civil Engineers with sound technical knowledge who can take the nation towards progress and to cater to the future needs.

 

The department has full fledged, experienced and dedicated teaching faculties. This strong team of faculty members is putting their best efforts to steer the department towards the vision. The Department is having well established and equipped laboratories which are able to offer consultancy services in the areas of Structural, Environmental, Geotechnical and Water Resources Engineering, Surveying.

The department is also arranging Guest Lectures, Seminars/ Workshops and field visits.
