About Us

The Department of Architecture was established in the year 1992 - 93 with 40 student’s intake and the department has grown from strength to strength with an intake of 80 students, and is one of the oldest and the first private management colleges to start architecture course in Tamil Nadu. The College is Autonomous, under the affiliation of Anna University, Chennai. The Department has trained more than 1000 architects in the last 26 batches and all our graduated students are well placed in India as well as abroad. The students are ensured an esteemed place in the society.

Architecture is a five year undergraduate program which focuses on diverse fields in design and built environment. The Department abides by the principle of “Multi-sensory Approach” towards teaching and learning architecture, guided by eminent architects and diverse team of professors who acquired their education from premier institute and are committed. Design forums, Seminars, workshops, conventions, and lectures are conducted in various topics to provide global competencies in Architecture. Case studies and Architectural academic tours are planned to be an eye-opener for the students to understand our living environment in a deeper and more experiential way.

The department has a state of art facilities like Computer Lab, Climatology lab, Acoustic lab, workshop areas, model making studio, AV Room, Studios, E-Studio, display room, construction yard for hands on experience in construction and independent library within the department exclusively for architecture students. It covers books on the latest subjects, also includes national, international journals and e-journals.

In the recent (2013) survey conducted by Times group our department has been awarded 2nd Position among the best architecture colleges in Tamil Nadu. The Department has MOU signed for Software Training, Carrier Guidance & Skill development with various agencies to train Architecture students. Institutional Membership under Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Membership was availed in academic year 2018-2019 and all our students are enrolled as student members in IIA & IGBC. Every year a minimum of 4-5 students qualified through GATE and pursuing Post Graduation in premier institutions like IIT’s, CEPT, SPA Delhi and foreign Universities.

National Level Architecture Symposium, Guest Lectures, Case Study, Field visits, Study tours and workshops are regularly conducted for students. Recently the Architecture department organized a two-day National Level Symposium (Ityuta’22) with the theme “SUVADU” on October 14th and 15th 2022 attended by more than 10 colleges. The National level symposium organised in the previous years are ITYUTA-18, on August 31st and Sept. 1st, ITYUTA-16, on Sept. 09th and 10th - 2016 in which more than 200 students actively participated, ITYUTA – 13, on August 13th and 14th – 2013 and ITYUTA-14, on Sept. 27th and 28th - 2014, To acquire practical exposure and skills, students are constantly & actively participating in Zonal & National Level Student’s Convention & seminars and have won several prizes both at Zonal & National Level. 100% placement of all the batches.

AASA (Adhiyamaan Architecture Students of Association) student body conducts weekly activity for students like on- the spot events, design, paper, presentation, extra-curricular activities every Saturday afternoon. Every year we document a rural village (in and around Hosur) and the issues related to environment, sanitation and construction are identified and solutions are suggested to the village authorities. As part of the curriculum heritage buildings are documented, urban study is undertaken addressing urban issues like transportation, slums, market study areas, etc. The Department has trained more than six hundred architects in the last twenty-five batches and all our graduated students are well placed in India as well as abroad. The students are ensured an esteemed place in the society.

The department is one among the 198 member colleges in NASA (a national level body). Our students are encouraged to participate in NASA events right from the beginning and they have won several prizes at NASA & zonal NASA conventions continuously till date.

National Thesis Awards

The national level thesis competition conducted by council of architecture, our students are participating every year and in the year 2010 AJITH SUNNY thesis has been selected and won the 10th place and in the year 2011 JIJUVARGHESE has won the 8th place. In the year 2012, JACKSON PHILIP got short listed and in the year 2017, Venkatramanan J has won the fifth place from Zone VI.

Intach Heritage Awards

The INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) heritage awards trophy hosted by INTACH, every year our students actively participate and also have won special mention in the year 2018.
