About Us

The Department has been committed to the dissemination of inter-disciplinary Chemistry knowledge through evolving and innovative teaching-learning process for budding Engineers and Technologists. Engineering Chemistry theory and laboratory courses are offered for first year B.E. and B. Tech programmes and the students are also guided in inter-disciplinary projects involving materials development and analysis. The department has also undertaken the responsibility of imparting a strong foundation in Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry for Chemical Engineering Students.

The department has highly qualified and dedicated faculty members with Doctorate in various specialized areas of Chemistry. They are also actively involved in collaborative research and consultancy work with industries, research institutes and academic institutions in India & abroad.

The department has a well-established laboratory to accommodate two batch of sixty students at a time for Engineering Chemistry Lab Class. All the instruments used by First-year students are state of art and a good number of sophisticated instruments form a part of Physical Chemistry and Technical Analysis Laboratory.

The department has been recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai for conducting Ph.D. programme. The faculty members of the department visit various National and International laboratories frequently to update and enhance their knowledge to serve the social and student community by imbibing environmental awareness and the need for conservation of resources.
